Container Terminal Expansion Near the Suez Canal Completed – A New Boost for Global Logistics
The Suez Canal has once again strengthened its position as one of the world’s most critical trade corridors. On November 20, 2025, the administration of East Port Said announced the completion of a major expansion at the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT). The project, valued at $500 million, significantly increases the terminal’s annual handling capacity by 2.2 million TEU, bringing the total to 7 million TEU per year.

The expansion was inaugurated during an official ceremony attended by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, underscoring the strategic importance of the project not only for the terminal itself, but for the entire Suez Canal logistics ecosystem.
