The United States is taking another decisive step toward securing control over its #criticalminerals industry. The U.S. Export-Import Bank has issued a $200 million Letter of Interest to REAlloys Inc., a company aiming to establish North America’s first fully integrated mine-to-magnet supply chain.
This initiative marks one of Washington’s clearest signals yet that it intends to rebuild the domestic rare-earth infrastructure long dominated by #China. REAlloys, currently merging with Blackboxstocks (NASDAQ: BLBX), plans to connect every stage of production - from mining at Hoidas Lake in Saskatchewan to processing at the Saskatchewan Research Council’s facility and magnet manufacturing in Euclid, Ohio.
The U.S. push to reindustrialize the rare-earth sector follows years of dependence on Chinese refining and magnet production, where China still controls nearly 90% of global output. By contrast, REAlloys’ vertically integrated approach will keep extraction, refining, and manufacturing within allied borders - a move aligned with the US Government’s broader Supply Chain Resiliency Initiative.
Washington’s support for REAlloys builds upon its ongoing effort to diversify and secure critical-materials sourcing. The Department of Defense has already invested more than $439 million into domestic mine-to-magnet capacity, while EXIM’s new financing commitment strengthens the credit base needed to advance the project.
Adding to this, REAlloys has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan’s JOGMEC agency, linking North American resources with Japanese technology and expertise in magnet manufacturing. This collaboration reflects a growing U.S.–Japan alignment on reducing dependence on Chinese refining and establishing resilient #allied industrial networks.
For the logistics sector, projects like this signal major shifts in the geography of high-value manufacturing and cross-border trade. With facilities in Saskatchewan and Ohio, REAlloys sits at the intersection of North American resource development and advanced manufacturing - areas that will require robust, time-sensitive logistics and multimodal coordination across the continent.
As Western economies race to secure their industrial base for the energy transition, initiatives like REAlloys demonstrate how strategic financing, technology cooperation, and regional #logistics can reshape supply chains for decades to come.
By strengthening domestic production capacity, Washington’s move goes beyond mining - it’s a strategic investment in the future architecture of global trade resilience.
